1st Station – Jesus Is Condemned to Death

Stations of the Cross          2nd Station

At this first station, we contemplate Jesus standing silently before Pontius Pilate, unjustly accused and sentenced despite His innocence. This moment reveals the depth of Christ’s humility: the Eternal Judge allows Himself to be judged by human authorities. He accepts condemnation not because He is guilty, but because He chooses to bear the weight of our sins out of love. Here we see the mystery of God’s mercy at work—Jesus does not defend Himself or resist, but embraces the Father’s will, transforming injustice into the path of salvation. As we meditate on this station, we are invited to reflect on our own reactions to injustice, suffering, or misunderstanding, and to ask for the grace to respond with patience, trust, and love, following the example of Christ.
