Mysteries
THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES
(Traditionally prayed Monday & Saturday)
1. The Annunciation
Event: The Angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she will conceive Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
Bible Verse: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” — Luke 1:38
Fruit of the Mystery: Humility.

2. The Visitation
Event: Mary visits Elizabeth, who is filled with the Holy Spirit and recognizes Mary as the Mother of the Lord.
Bible Verse: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” — Luke 1:42
Fruit of the Mystery: Love of Neighbours.

3. The Nativity
Event: Jesus Christ is born in Bethlehem, bringing light and salvation into the world.
Bible Verse: “And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths…” — Luke 2:7
Fruit of the Mystery: Poverty (poor in spirit), Detachment from the things of the world, Contempt of Riches, Love of the Poor.

4. The Presentation in the Temple
Event: Mary and Joseph present the Child Jesus in the Temple, where Simeon prophesies about Him.
Bible Verse: “My eyes have seen your salvation.” — Luke 2:30
Fruit of the Mystery: Purity, Obedience.

5. The Finding in the Temple
Event: After three days, Mary and Joseph find Jesus teaching in the Temple.
Bible Verse: “Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” — Luke 2:49
Fruit of the Mystery: True Wisdom and True Conversion, Piety, Joy of Finding Jesus.

THE LUMINOUS MYSTERIES
(Traditionally prayed Thursday)
1. The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
Event: Jesus is baptized by John, and the Spirit descends upon Him.
Bible Verse: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” — Matthew 3:17
Fruit of the Mystery: Openness to the Holy Spirit, the Healer.

2. The Wedding at Cana
Event: Jesus performs His first miracle, turning water into wine at Mary’s request.
Bible Verse: “Do whatever he tells you.” — John 2:5
Fruit of the Mystery: To Jesus through Mary. The understanding of the ability to manifest-through faith..

3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom
Event: Jesus proclaims the Kingdom of God, calling all to conversion.
Bible Verse: “The time is fulfilled… repent and believe in the Gospel.” — Mark 1:15
Fruit of the Mystery: Repentance and Trust in God.

4. The Transfiguration
Event: Jesus reveals His glory to Peter, James, and John on the mountain.
Bible Verse: “His face shone like the sun.” — Matthew 17:2
Fruit of the Mystery: Desire for Holiness.

5. The Institution of the Holy Eucharist
Event: At the Last Supper, Jesus gives His Body and Blood in the Eucharist.
Bible Verse: “This is my body, which is given for you.” — Luke 22:19
Fruit of the Mystery: Adoration and greater love for the Holy Eucharist.

THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES
(Traditionally prayed Tuesday & Friday)
1. The Agony in the Garden
Event: Jesus prays in Gethsemane and accepts the Father’s will.
Bible Verse: “Not my will, but yours be done.” — Luke 22:42
Fruit of the Mystery: Sorrow for Sin and Uniformity with the will of God.

2. The Scourging at the Pillar
Event: Jesus is brutally scourged before His crucifixion.
Bible Verse: “Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged.” — John 19:1
Fruit of the Mystery: Mortification and Purity.

3. The Crowning with Thorns
Event: Jesus is mocked as King and crowned with thorns.
Bible Verse: “They put a crown of thorns on his head…” — Matthew 27:29
Fruit of the Mystery: Contempt of the world and Moral Courage.

4. The Carrying of the Cross
Event: Jesus carries His cross to Calvary, falling repeatedly.
Bible Verse: “And he went out, bearing his own cross…” — John 19:17
Fruit of the Mystery: Patience and Perseverance in Trials.

5. The Crucifixion
Event: Jesus is nailed to the cross and dies for the salvation of humanity.
Bible Verse: “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” — Luke 23:46
Fruit of the Mystery: Salvation and Forgiveness.

THE GLORIOUS MYSTERIES
(Traditionally prayed Wednesday & Sunday)
1. The Resurrection
Event: Jesus rises from the dead, conquering sin and death.
Bible Verse: “He is not here; for he has risen.” — Matthew 28:6
Fruit of the Mystery: Faith.

2. The Ascension
Event: Jesus ascends into Heaven and promises the Holy Spirit.
Bible Verse: “He was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.” — Acts 1:9
Fruit of the Mystery: Hope and Desire for Heaven.

3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit
Event: The Holy Spirit descends on the apostles at Pentecost.
Bible Verse: “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 2:4
Fruit of the Mystery: Holy Wisdom and Divine Charity.

4. The Assumption of Mary
Event: The Church teaches that Mary was taken body and soul into Heaven.
Bible Verse: “All generations will call me blessed.” — Luke 1:48
Fruit of the Mystery: Devotion to Mary and Grace of a Happy Death.

5. The Coronation of Mary
Event: Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Bible Verse: “A woman clothed with the sun… and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” — Revelation 12:1
Fruit of the Mystery: Final Perseverance and Trust in Mary’s Intercession.
