At this tender and sorrowful moment, Jesus and Mary encounter each other on the road to Calvary—an exchange of glances that speaks more deeply than any words could. Mary, the Mother who once held Him as an infant, now beholds her Son bruised, scourged, and burdened by the weight of the world’s sins. Yet she does not turn away. Her loving presence becomes a silent act of courage, fidelity, and union with His mission. Jesus, seeing His Mother’s unwavering faith, is strengthened for the suffering ahead. This station reminds us that love does not always remove pain, but it does transform it. In Mary, we learn compassion; in Jesus, we find the strength to continue our own crosses knowing that we are never alone. Their meeting teaches us to stay close to God and to one another, especially in moments of trial.
